he never thought it could turn out this way. he never considered that the world would never stop, even for him. he just hoped and prayed that he could enjoy a moment alone with the stillness of the universe and the peace of his mind.

but she had other plans. she bent mountains and clouds to her will. as long as her eyes had the depth of the ocean and the shine of the stars. as long as her smile had the song of the birds and the breeze of the wind. she could never allow it.

oasis in a desert ever so dry --

comet in a warpath through the sky:

slowly at first, and then

all at once.


he hoped he wouldn't wake up.

he hoped he wouldn't ever 

have enough.

he thought. maybe a poem he

would read and remember until

the pages ended. but he never

saw all of the bricks and mortar

crumbling, tumbling down.

he would find her in every time.

he would read her in every line.

as she became a god to his non-believer.

but he wasn't ready to pray.

he thought love simple

and made it difficult.

he thought love easy

and made it impossible.

so, he thought

until he thought no more.
